What is Read To Me?
Read To Me is a free website that reads text out loud to you. You paste or type any text, press ▶, and listen. It can also translate the text into your own language first, then read the translation to you. You do not need an account, and there is nothing to install.
Who is it for?
- Students who want to listen to notes, chapters or homework, like a lecture.
- People who find reading hard, including people with dyslexia or tired eyes.
- People learning a new language, who want to hear how a text sounds.
- Anyone who gets text in another language, such as a letter, a message or a web page, and wants to hear it in Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Arabic, English or another language.
- Busy people who want to listen while they cook, drive or rest.
How to use it, step by step
- Copy your text. It can come from a book, a website, a message, an email or your notes.
- Put it in the big box. Press 📋 Paste, or type it yourself.
- Pick your language under 🌐 Hear it in. If the text is in another language, we translate it for you.
- Press the big ▶ button and listen. The sentence being read turns yellow, so you can follow along.
- Change the speed with 🐢 Slow, Normal or 🐇 Fast.
- Move around with ⏮ and ⏭, or tap any sentence to start from there. Press ⏹ to stop.
- Come back later. We remember where you stopped, even if you close the page.
Tip: press the 💬 Help button in the corner if you get stuck. You can ask in English or Urdu.
